KCL ADOPT-A-SPOT - Lakewood Park - Kiwanis Garden......Planting Report:   Roses blooming profusely. Planted 3 flats of mixed begonias and 24 Verbenas, mixed colors.  Fertilizer and weed suppressant applied.  Crew:  John Mumma (slave driver), Larry Jones, Tim Mohr, Dave Norton, Jim Vine, Dick and Mary Seib, Stan Corwin, Terry Gabel, Anna Bacho.          "Many hands make light the work"  Our thanks to all the gardeners!

Many who attended last week's meeting (6/5) commented, approvingly, on our two speakers and their telling about what's been going on at the Lakewood Erie Screw building.  Bruce Giberson who has brought outstanding speakers to our meetings has secured the Event Center space at the old Lake Erie Screw building for our August 7th lunch meeting which will be followed by a tour of the building and the Templar Auto Museum space.  Details to follow.

It looks like (Lakwood) Kiwanis gave away about 1600 books today, Saturday 6/2. Such a huge crowd for a day that was overcast and a little chilly. Another awesome thing was Lakewood Police fitting kids for free bike helmets. And with more renovations to the playground, Lakewood Park HAS to be one of the best city parks anywhere. If you haven't been there lately, make a stop there.              Linda Goodrich
