I thought you might be interested even though this has nothing to do with Kiwanis.?????.....
Harald (Gormsson), king of Denmark and Norway, in the year 960. Some of King Harald's many accomplishments was the unificaion of Danish tribes into a single kingdom. In addition to being a unifying monarch, Harald also had an interesting nickname. In Old Norse, he was called blatand, which was roughly translated to English as bluetooth. In 1997, Jim Kardach of Intel was working on a system to link devices wirelessly. At the same time, he was reading history of the Vikings and King Harald. Just as Harald had united the Danish tribes, Kardach believed that his new technology could provide a unified standard for short-range wireless digital communicaions. In honor of King Harald he chistened it Bluetooth. On 10th-century carvings, Harald's initials are represented by two symbles that look like the English letter "B" and another that resembles an "X" at the center of a vertical line. The letters were combined to form the iconic Bluetooth logo. Bluetooth Logo!
I did say it had nothing to do with Kiwanis, didn't I?
